Glass for all seasons

Although just a hobby, I love to make seasonal glass items and I am always trying out new things and thinking about birthday and christmas gift ideas.

Glass for all reasons

I make jewellery, wall art, lightcatchers, plates and bowls for friends and family and a few markets.

About Me

Fused Glass Panel. Country scene using inclusions, frit, copper oxide and mica

My Background

My name is Lorna Stewart and I am a scientist by training and studied for my degree and PhD at Aberdeen University. I left any artistic ability at secondary school and did not revisit it until 4 or 5 years ago. Saying that, fused glass is very forgiving.....

How I started

My interest in fused, or kiln formed glass, started with a few 'taster' sessions in studios in Hertford. I was hooked when the first thing I made actually turned out well (the image of my cats and kittens in the title picture).
When I discovered that you could start at home, by using a microwave kiln.......then that was it!

Where I am now

I wanted to do bigger fused glass projects, so I now have my own kiln at home. I have a lot of glass ( I work with Bullseye glass) and additional items and all the tools to play. It is a fantastic hobby, and I created this site to show some of the work that I do featuring handmade fused glass and also to encourage other people to have a go. If you have any questions about where to start, get in contact and have a chat.
